The Origin of the Gourmand Fragrance Family
 

Gourmand is the newest major fragrance family in perfumery, widely popularised by the launch of Thierry Mugler’s Angel in 1992. What began as a bold shift towards sweet, edible-smelling notes has become a central pillar of the fragrance world, with gourmand fragrances now among the most talked-about scents in beauty. Today, notes like vanilla, caramel, coffee, pistachio, milk, chocolate and praline are often blended with woods, florals, musk, spice or amber to add depth and stop the scent from feeling too sweet.
