The Amber / Oriental Scent Profile

Amber / Oriental fragrances are warm, rich and made to linger. Built around notes like vanilla, resins, spice, woods and musk, they tend to feel smooth, sensual and enveloping. At ARC, you’ll find amber fragrances from the world’s most-loved beauty brands, from soft, creamy vanillas to darker, more resinous scents with real presence.

Common Amber Fragrance Family Notes

Common amber fragrance notes include vanilla, labdanum, benzoin, tonka bean, amber woods, musk, cinnamon, cardamom, incense, patchouli and warm resins. Some amber fragrances lean soft and creamy, while others feel spicy, smoky, resinous or darker and more intense.

The Origin of the Amber / Oriental Fragrance Family

Amber is a more recent term for a previously outdated family called “oriental.” The older term was historically used in perfumery for warm, sensual scents built around resins, spices, vanilla and woods, but many modern fragrance guides now use amber instead.
